It is a good recipe to make for a tea party snack or as an appetizer. I made this for my friends painting's reception. It's a good bite size snack for any kind of occasion. Very easy to make using just the basic ingredients in your pantry. Yields-24 mini tart 2 ounces/ 60 grams - Unsalted Butter 2 pound/ 960 grams - Yellow onion, sliced thin 1/4 teaspoon/ 1 gram - Salt 1/2 teaspoon/ 2 grams - Black Pepper 1.5 ounces/ 45 grams - Gryere cheese, grated finely 4.5 ounces/ 3 number/ 150 grams - Eggs 8 fluid ounces/ 240 ml - Heavy Cream To taste - Salt, Pepper, Nutmeg Mealy dough tart shell baked 24 numbers basic-pie-dough.html Method 1. Heat oven to 350 F. 2. Melt butter in a pan. Add onion and cook over medium heat until it turns light golden brown. 3. Add salt and pepper. Remove from heat. 4. Sprinkle half of cheese into precooked tart shells (follow the basic pie dough recipe). Place caramelized onion over the cheese, then sprinkle remaining cheese on the top. 5. In a separate bowl, whisk eggs & cream. Season with salt, pepper and nutmeg. Pour into the tart shells and fill 3/4th the tart. 6. Bake for 20 - 25 mins. Note - This recipe is a basic recipe. You can improvise with herbs, spices etc. You can also make using shop bought pie dough and reduced your work load.
